"Comatose" by Skillet begins to play
as we open up on the
traveling Wristlock studio
and our usual set up. The
music fades out slowly as we
zoom in on Mieke, and she
gives a slight nod to the
cameras.
Mieke: Welcome to the Wristlock, to
start us out this week I'd
like to talk about Cody's
departure from the SWA. What
an ungrateful little prick
that kid is honestly, the
promotion took him in, you
had other members of the
roster and people in
management offering him help
behind the scenes and he
didn't take it. Yet he got
kept aboard and given chance
after chance despite his
staggering incompetence, or
ability to tell men from
women, or if people were
blind or not. Then he spit
in everyone's face by
quitting mid week when
there's a #1 Contender's Tag
Match he was supposed to be
in. Listen, I may not like
JR but at least he shows up
every time. Hanging anyone
out to dry like that was a
load of bull. And to ruin a
match like that showed a
complete lack of
professionalism, for all his
talk of loving to wrestle he
has no passion or respect
for the business or his
co-workers. Good riddance to
him, have fun in the minor
leagues. And with that
unpleasantness out of the
way, let's get to the rest
of the show.
She takes a sip from her water bottle
and sets it back down.
Mieke: Altitude was certainly a
noteworthy show, full of
surprises. Things got off to
a chaotic start after Kendra
Callaghan made her return
following Calypso's entrance
for the opening match and
absolutely destroyed
Michelle Kramer, shattering
her leg. It's not a surprise
Kendra would target someone
who'd given Riz so many
problems, and we had heard
she was close to returning,
but she definitely managed
to catch people off guard
and make a huge statement.
If I was most of the
wrestlers on the roster, I'd
try to avoid crossing her.
I'm not sure if that all
threw Calypso off his game,
or if the fact Dominic had
messed with his head a bit
leading up to the match had
more to do with it, but an
opportunistic Dominic was
able to take advantage of a
mistake by Calypso and pick
up his first win here. Now
let's see if Dominic sticks
to a direction and can build
upon this.
Mieke states that rather calmly, but
one can tell there's a rant
about to come up from her
demeanor.
Mieke: The Buried Alive match was
next, and as expected Thomas
destroyed Seth and got some
much needed revenge. But I
have to say this, where the
hell was security after the
match? Wrestlers attacking
other wrestlers is one
thing, kidnappings happen, I
get this. But we get a bunch
of people who don't work
here running in, this
Jademore coming chanting her
words to Thomas, them tazing
him, Wilford Brimley
appearing on the big screen
and having a conversation
with Jademore, Jademore
camping out, building a
fire, and cooking some
s'mores, then they just walk
off with a member of the
roster. What kind of crap is
that? That kidnapping should
never have happened and the
entire SWA security crew
should be fired and
replaced. It's inexcusable
that these idiots just get
to waltz in, take their
sweet ass time commiting a
crime live on an SWA Pay Per
View, and just get away with
taking one of our wrestlers.
I realize there have been
run ins during shows, but
this was not a quick,
stealthy deal. If I was a
wrestler, I sure as hell
wouldn't want to go out and
perform knowing a bunch of
geeks can just walk in,
pitch a tent and take me in
the middle of a show without
anyone trying to stop them.
Taking a deep breath, she takes a
moment to calm down a bit.
Mieke: With that out of the way, we
had the fatal 4 way match to
determine the #1 Contenders
for the tag belts, with
Behemoth and Royal coming
out on top. I don't think
that's a surprise at all, it
seemed pretty apparent they
were the team best equipped
to take this match, although
you can never count out B
Cool. It should be
interesting to see how this
team develops heading into
their title match against
Dirk and Billy. Then we had
the triple threat two falls
match, and while I was right
that Ally was going to be
able to retain one of her
titles I really thought it
would be her picking the
bones at the end to retain
her coveted Commissioner's
spot. Rather, she retained
the Anarchy Title to start
the match off, by hitting
her finisher ... I refuse to
call it by that stupid name,
on Angel. I felt Sasso had
been looking really strong
up to that point, but
unfortunately for him that's
the way things go in a
triple threat. It actually
looked like she was about to
retain the Comissioner's
belt as well, locking her
choke in on Sasso before
Angel broke it up. Anyways,
at the end Angel went
absolutely nuts in what
seemed to be a well
orchestrated beatdown of
both participants involving
brass knuckles, and
handcuffs as a few of the
items she used. The prospect
of her as Commissioner is
rather scary, but at least
we'll have ownership to
filter her ideas. Finally,
we had the Money In The Bank
match, and we had quite the
strange finish with both Riz
and Alex grabbing the
briefcase. What is done to
resolve this, I don't know,
but both are certainly
deserving. Arik Taylor may
not think so, but that's a
completely different story
for another day. And with
that, let's take a look
ahead to this week's Edge.
The Edge logo flashes on the screen
followed by a graphic for
the Christian McClane vs.
Sherman Witicker Poetry
Slam.
Mieke: This match ... well it's not
really a match, but wow. I'm
not sure if this is an
attempt to humiliate
Christian and fire him up,
her wanting to laugh at
Sherman, a horrible attempt
to seem artsy and
sophisticated, or all of the
above. I guess I'll go with
Sherman here as I'm guessing
he'll at least be eager to
participate.
Next is a graphic for the JR vs.
Sawyer Psychotic Mystery Box
On A Pole match.
Mieke: Let's be honest, whatever is in
the box probably isn't going
to be something you'd
actually want to win. And
even if it was, I doubt
either of these guys would
care about it. Still, I
think the balance of wanting
to kick your opponent's ass
and potentially "winning"
something awful could be a
tricky one. Nonetheless,
I'll have to pick Sawyer
here just because he's had a
bit more success in the SWA
to date. Given that JR has
had well ... none.
Following is a graphic for Catalina
South vs. McGoldrick under
Xtreme Rules.
Mieke: This match intrigues me a lot,
given young Ms. South's
backstory and the struggles
of McGoldrick recently. I am
going to go with the rookie
to score what might be seen
as an upset against the
veteran in his favored
environment. He needs a
serious reality check, and
hasn't seemed to have gotten
the clue yet.
We then see one for Team Swiss vs.
Royal Delange and Behemoth.
Mieke: I have to go with our new #1
contenders here. It's
imperative for them to get
as much momentum going as
possible right now before
they head into a meeting
with a cohesive unit like
Dirk and Billy. The Swiss
still have a lot to learn,
so I'm expecting a decisive
victory here.
Finally we see a graphic for the First
Blood Xtreme Title #1
Contenders match between
Stephanie Frost and Arik
Taylor. Mieke: This is a tough one to call, mostly because these matches can be so flukey. A lot of cases where someone can dominate and still be the one to bleed first. I think Stephanie is the better wrestler, but under these rules it's tough to tell. Still, I will go with her though in this one. Arik is going to be wrestling this match a few days after being in a grueling Money In The Bank match and taking a nasty fall, you'd think that has to come into account here. Well now that we've got all that boring wrestling recap stuff out of the way, it's time for what you all really tune in for ... the mailbag.
She has a wry grin on her face after
saying that, before
preparing herself to read
the questions.
Mieke: Our first one comes from Tony
in New York. He wants to
know if I think the SWA will
ever bring back Korg ... no,
no, good god no. What kind
of question is that? I
realize some idiots have
gotten brought back, but no.
No, no, no, no, no. Next
question ...
Looking down, she decides to change
the subject as quickly as
possible.
Mieke: And our other one comes from
Serena in Boston. She wants
to know if I think the SWA
will ever institute 6 man
tag belts like some
promotions have had in the
past. I'd have to say that
would be highly unlikely, we
can't even keep a steady
regular tag division going.
Well, that's all the time
for this week and I'll see
you next time.
"Comatose" begins to play again as the
scene slowly pans out before
we fade to the SWA logo and
then to black. |
